Tea Shop/Antique Shop by Fay and Joe Zerbolio
The TV stand was given to Fay by a friend many years ago. When she decided to do something with it, it was decided it had to be a tea shop. Fay and Joe had a silver tea service on its top in their dining room for many years. Joe created the room, built the mezzanine, installed the floors and built the spiral staircase. He also turned the bases of the tables. Fay “fancied” the tables by using a decorative scissors to make the overhang edge.
The Oriental figures on the mezzanine belonged to Fay's mother. The other things in the antique shop were things that were in her “stash” waiting for a home.
Visitors are transported into a world in miniature through the skills of artisans from around the nation, as well as from many remarkably talented local miniaturists. Scales range from 1:6 (for “Barbie” -sized dolls) and 1:12 (“typical” dollhouse where one inch equals 12 inches) to 1:24 (half-inch scale), 1:48 (quarter-inch scale), 1:144 (1/12 of an inch scale — doll house in a doll house) and even micro miniatures!
