Tickets will be available at the museum and at the show.  The winning tickets will be drawn on Sunday afternoon.  You do not have to be present to win.  Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.  Be sure to put your name and address on the ticket stub and place in the appropriate container.

PRE-REGISTERED WORKSHOPS

When registering, it is important that you indicate your second choices. Some teachers will come only for a minimum of students. Should your first choice be cancelled for lack of enrollment, we will do our best to give you your second choice.

Workshop registration deadline: APRIL 11, 2008. After deadline, contact Linda Gearhart (636) 296-2079 (e-mail: llgear@sbcglobal.net) for class availability. Confirmation of registration for classes and supplies needed for class will be sent by APRIL 14, 2008.

Lunch will be available at the hotel restaurant and not in connection with the classes.

FRIDAY DINNER/AUCTION:  Join us for the dinner/silent auction.  Your dinner price includes your admission to the sales room for both Saturday and Sunday.  There will be drawings awarding gift certificates and other surprises.  Everyone attending receives a special gift for attending.  Choose an entree of chicken or pork.  If you have special dietary needs, please contact Linda Gearhart (636) 296-2079 (e-mail:  llgear@sbcglobal.net).  Cocktails at 6:15 p.m., dinner served at 7:00 p.m.  Dinner for a museum member is $28.00 and $30.00 for a non-member.  

Please go to the  Workshop Registration Form to print out a form, complete, and send by US Postal Service to the person indicated on the form.  Sorry--we do not have online submission at this time.

If you are flying in and need transportation to the hotel, there is a shuttle available for a fee.  Arrangements must be made with the hotel two days in advance.  

The ballroom rental fee is dependent on the number of sleeping rooms rented.  In order for the museum to get credit for YOUR room rental, make sure you tell the hotel you are coming to the Gateway Miniature Fair.  We appreciate your help by staying at the hotel to help in our fund-raising efforts for the Miniature Museum of Greater St. Louis.

Directions: Highway I-40/64*, Exit 19A NORTH to Chesterfield Parkway. Turn LEFT (West) on Swingley Ridge Road to Hotel.

Remember I-40/64 is closed East of I-270 from Ballas Rd. to I-170.  Make sure to use another route.

3A. 1" OR 1/2" SCALE BOBBIN LACE FAN ON LASER CUT FAN STICKS - A BEGINNER'S CLASS.

INSTRUCTOR: JULIA GROSS GLOECKNER

This class for the beginner will provide students with a bobbin lace pillow and bobbins to keep. They will work the bobbin lace fan with the provided material and mount it on the provided fan sticks. It is very likely that students will finish this class in the allotted time span. Indicate color choice of red, gold, white, or ecru on registration form.

3B. 1" 0R 1/2" SCALE BOBBIN LACE FAN ON LASER CUT FAN STICKS - ADVANCED SKILL CLASS. 

 

INSTRUCTOR: JULIA GROSS GLOECKNER
COST: $42.00

This class for the advanced bobbin lacer will give students the opportunity to hone their lace skills. In addition to the lace fans, they will have the choice to work more advanced patterns involving new stitches. Teacher will provide more bobbins if needed. The fan sticks are provided as well. It is very likely that students will finish this class in the allotted time span. Indicate color choice of red, gold, white, or ecru on registration form.

4. 1" SCALE "HOUSE" MAIL BOX PLANTER BOX.

Students will make a charming "house" mail box, apply brick to the planter box, set mailbox in the planter box and fill the planter box with plants and flowers.

5. FAIRY SHADOW BOX. 

 

MARY WEST/DAY DREAM CREATIONS
COST: $57.00

Students will dress a nearly 3" fairy doll in silk flowers and fabric, and landscape the inside of the handcrafted box which is 5-3/4" tall and 2" deep. They will learn wigging, landscaping and costuming. They will have a variety of poses to choose from as well as the background for the shadow box. They will also get to choose hair color. Kits will contain landscaping to either make the scene summer or fall.

7. 1" SCALE TRAY WITH PERFUME TRAY.

COST: $20.00

Students will learn to make perfume and makeup bottles using fancy beads. They will also make hatpins and place in a container. These items will then be place on a 1-1/4" x 1-5/8" tray. Students can bring items to be added to the tray if desired, e.g., mirror, comb, or decorative item.  (Swan in picture NOT included.)

8. 1/4" SCALE CHRISTMAS TABLE. 

INSTRUCTOR: JAN MCCANDLISS/JAN BE NIMBLE
COST: $41.00

Students will make a wooden kitchen table, then fill it with cooling baked goods being readied for Christmas. There will be pies, breads, rolls, cookies (both baked and ready for the oven on a pan). Students will be able to make more than will fit on the table so that items can be placed on kitchen counters or other areas of the tiny home. Appropriate pans and dishes are included.

9. 1" SCALE CHINESE FOOD. 

 

INSTRUCTOR: MARY WRENN/WRENN NEST MINIS

Students will use polymer clay to make shrimp fried rice in a wok, eggrolls, fortune cookies and fish in a mold. They will also make a set of chop sticks.

10. MAKE A ROOM IN A BABY GIFT BAG. 

 

INSTRUCTOR: FAY ZERBOLIO
COST: $26.00

Students will learn to measure, cut form core and assemble a room to fit inside a baby gift bag. Room with be finished with off-white wallpaper with pink and blue stripes and a paper wood floor.  A wallpaper border to match the bag will be added, either to the top of the room, or as a chair rail.  Finished room size is 9-1/2" wide, 4-1/2" deep, and 10-3/4" high.  Plexiglass top and front included. Students will add their own furniture and accessories to complete the scene. Instructions can be applied to any gift bag.

11. 1" SCALE NUTTY CHOCOLATE BROWNIES. 

 

INSTRUCTOR: BARB LEWIS/FIFTH STREET STUDIO
COST: $40.00

During this polymer clay session, students will learn how to texture the brownies. Chopped nuts will be added to the "batter." Let's bake a batch, frost them, and serve them up on a glass stand with a pretty doily.

INSTRUCTOR: JOE ZERBOLIO
COST:  $36.00

Students will learn how to layout and solder, and connect low voltage (12 volts) circuits for miniature projects which can be composed of round wire or foil in any combination. In addition, students will build a continuity tester and learn how to use it to troubleshoot and repair circuits. The meaning and relationship between Voltage and Power and how it affects lighting and other miniature use will be demonstrated. Tricks for increasing bulb life will be shown. Students are encouraged to bring ANY wiring or electrical problems to class for discussion and solution as time permits.
